It is connected to the output of the electronic integrator so that the texture diagram normally obtained with the original equipment remains available. Journal of Applied Physics, 1945A [110] pole figure for cold-rolled and annealed silicon steel, constructed from data obtained with an integrating x-ray camera, is compared with a stereographic projection of [110] poles for one hundred individual grains in the same samples. From this comparison, it is concluded that pole figures are accurate enough to determine preferred orientations

A device, applicable to samples with fiber texture, is used on a diffractometer to average the diffracted x-ray intensities representing values on a pole figure. In the process, the fiber axis is rotated end-over-end continuously at a constant rate through an angle φ which is also the colatitude coordinate of the pole figure.
