Multiomics Analysis Reveals the Impact of Microbiota on Host Metabolism in Hepatic Steatosis. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh), 2022
A comprehensive study to decipher hepatic steatosis (HS) by generating multiomics data including oral and gut metagenomics as well as plasma metabolomics and inflammatory proteomics data in a well‐characterized metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) cohort. Abstract Metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a

Evolution of fungal tuberculosis necrotizing toxin (TNT) domain-containing enzymes reveals divergent adaptations to enhance NAD cleavage. [PDF]

open access: yesProtein Sci
Abstract Tuberculosis necrotizing toxin (TNT) is a protein domain discovered on the outer membrane of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), and the fungal pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus. TNT domains have pure NAD(P) hydrolytic activity, setting them apart from other NAD‐cleaving domains such as ADP‐ribosyl cyclase and Toll/interleukin‐1 receptor homology ...

Ligand binding Pro-miscuity of acylpeptide hydrolase, structural analysis of a detoxifying serine hydrolase. [PDF]

open access: yesProtein Sci
Abstract Acylpeptide hydrolase (APEH) or acylaminoacyl‐peptidase (AAP) is a serine hydrolase that regulates protein metabolism. It can also bind to and process unusual substrates, acting as a detoxifier. To better understand its promiscuous specificity, we determined the cryo‐EM structures of mammalian APEH complexed with classical serine protease ...

PoLiMEr [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 5th International Workshop on Energy Efficient Supercomputing, 2017
Power and energy consumption are now key design concerns in HPC. To develop software that meets power and energy constraints, scientific application developers must have a reliable way to measure these values and relate them to application-specific events.

iPSC-Derived Liver Organoids as a Tool to Study Medium Chain Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Inherit Metab Dis
ABSTRACT Medium chain acyl‐CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (MCADD) is an inherited metabolic disease, characterized by biallelic variants in the ACADM gene. Interestingly, even with the same genotype, patients often present with very heterogeneous symptoms, ranging from fully asymptomatic to life‐threatening hypoketotic hypoglycemia.

Metamorphic Malware and Obfuscation: A Survey of Techniques, Variants, and Generation Kits

open access: yesSecurity and Communication Networks, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
The competing landscape between malware authors and security analysts is an ever‐changing battlefield over who can innovate over the other. While security analysts are constantly updating their signatures of known malware, malware variants are changing their signature each time they infect a new host, leading to an endless game of cat and mouse.

High‐Efficiency Luminescent Solar Concentrators Based on Antifogging and Frost‐Resisting Fluorescent Polymers: Adding Multiple Functions for Sustained Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 9, Issue 14, May 13, 2022., 2022
The first demonstration of an antifogging/frost‐resisting thin‐film luminescent solar concentrator based on a multifunctional, highly transparent, photostable, fluorescent methacrylic polymer as host matrix is presented in this work. Excellent device efficiency is demonstrated by tailoring polymer composition to allow for an effective donor–acceptor ...

Combined Metabolic Activators Accelerates Recovery in Mild‐to‐Moderate COVID‐19

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 8, Issue 17, September 8, 2021., 2021
Open‐label phase‐2 and double‐blinded phase‐3 clinical trials show that administration of CMA accelerates the recovery of ambulatory COVID‐19 patients. By integrating clinical data with plasma metabolomics and inflammatory proteomics, it is shown that CMA improves immune response and regulates antioxidant, amino acid, and lipid metabolism.
