Prediction of forest canopy structure from PolInSAR dataset

2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017
This paper presents the overall strategy of fusion of full waveform LIDAR and L-band Polarimetric and Interferometric radar (PolInSAR) images of forests in order to predict the forest vertical profile where there is no LIDAR information. The images considered are the radar dataset collected by the Uninhabited Vehicle Synthetic Aperture Radar (UAVSAR ...

Combination of PolInSAR and LiDAR Techniques for Forest Height Estimation

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2017
Forests are simplified as homogeneous volumes constituted of randomly uniform particles, characterized by a constant extinction coefficient in the random volume over ground (RVoG) model, which has been extensively applied to polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry for forest height estimation.

Relating Amazon forest biomass to PolInSAR extracted features

2013 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium - IGARSS, 2013
The combination of polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) with the interferometry capability (InSAR) enables the extraction of new features that enhances the development of biomass estimation models. This work aims in demonstrating the importance of the simultaneous use of several types of SAR features for estimating forest biomass. The study site is Sao Gabriel da

Cancellation of Scattering Mechanisms in PolInSAR: Application to Underlying Topography Estimation

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2013
This paper investigates the polarimetric dependence of the interferometric complex correlation and proposes amethodology for cancelling individual scattering mechanisms, in terms of the complex correlation coefficient phase, under the assumption of the random volume over ground model.

Polinsar Two Layer Model Ground and Volume Respone Separation

IGARSS 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2019
This work introduces a methodology to separate the ground and volume contributions from Polarimetric SAR Interferometric acquisitions. Based on the employed two layer model, the radar response may be decomposed into these two main contributions and the polarimetric covariance matrices of the corresponding ground and volume layers may be extracted from ...

POLINSAR data processing with RAT

2005
Polarimetric SAR Interferometry (PolInSAR) is an up–to–date research topic in SAR image data processing. This field undergoes extensive development and as of now no software is publicly available. This paper summarizes the first effortstaken to include PolInSAR data handling in the RAT (Radar Tools) framework.

Analyzing the impact of polarisation angles on the PolInSar coherence

IET Conference Publications, 2009
By setting the polarisation angles different values, we can obtain the coherence maps and interferometric phase maps in arbitrary polarisation states using the coherence synthesis techniques. We also analyze the different polarisation-angles- sensitivity of different scatters.

A Self-Initializing PolInSAR Classifier Using Interferometric Phase Differences

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2007
This paper describes an unsupervised classifier for polarimetric interferometric synthetic aperture radar (PolInSAR) data. Expectation maximization is used to estimate class parameters that maximize the likelihood of observations in an input data set for a given number of classes.

Coherence Optimization Using the Polarization State Conformation in PolInSAR

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2005
A new coherence optimization algorithm is proposed for polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry applications by using the polarization state conformation algorithm based on the polarimetric basis transformation along with the polarization signatures.

Improved retrieval algorithm of tree height by POLINSAR

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
Tree height is an important biophysical parameter. It is a need for forest and biomass map for the estimation of carbon budget. Polarimetric SAR interferometry (PolInSAR) has been applied successfully to retrieve biophysical parameters from forest areas.
