Poly(organosilanes), Poly(carbosilanes), Poly(organosilazanes)

1996
Attempts to completely replace the carbon in n-alkanes by the next element of group IV, silicon has been of special interest to practical as well as theoretical chemists ever since the work of Kipping [1]. Interest in the group of compounds, known as poly(organosilanes) 2b has not diminished to the present day, especially since it is a well known fact ...

Poly-Friendships

Journal of Lesbian Studies, 1999
SUMMARY In contrast to the monogamous model for sexual relationships (including those of lesbians) in western society, friendships are permitted to be polyamorous. However, friendships do not receive the level of salience and priority that sexual relationships do. This article focuses on three issues that keep lesbians from prioritizing friendships: (1)

Organocatalytic Ring-opening Polymerization Towards Poly(cyclopropane)s, Poly(lactame)s, Poly(aziridine)s, Poly(siloxane)s, Poly(carbosiloxane)s, Poly(phosphate)s, Poly(phosphonate)s, Poly(thiolactone)s, Poly(thionolactone)s and Poly(thiirane)s

2018
The following chapter is a collection of monomers that undergo organocatalyzed ring-opening polymerizations and have not been covered in a separate chapter of this book. This includes polymers widely used in industrial applications, but also solely academically relevant and more “exotic” polymer classes. As most of these polymers contain heteroatoms in

Methylene blue intercalates with triplex poly(dT)*poly(dA)·poly(dT) but not duplex poly(dA)·poly(dT)

J. Chem. Soc., Chem. Commun., 1995
Methylene blue intercalates with triplex poly(dT*dA·dT) even though it binds to the precursor duplex poly(dA·dT) in the major groove; the switch may be related to conformational modifications of the polynucleotide structure upon binding of the third strand.

High frequency vibrational modes of poly(dA) · poly(dT) and poly(dAT) · poly(dAT)

Journal of Raman Spectroscopy, 1979
AbstractThe Raman and infrared spectra of poly(dA) · poly(dT) and poly(dAT) · poly(dAT) have been recorded. Normal coordinate analyses have been performed for these two polymers to obtain the fundamental modes. We use a valence force field deduced from literature values and from a refinement of a diethyl phosphate potential. Non‐bonded interactions are

Poly(chloroaldehydes). III. Poly(dichloroacetaldehyde)

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: General Papers, 1965
AbstractAlthough dichloroacetaldehyde has only one chlorine less than chloral, the polymerization and polymer characteristics are quite different. Dichloroacetaldehyde is readily polymerized by Lewis acid catalysts to polymer with terminal hydroxyl groups.

Hole polarons in poly(G)-poly(C) and poly(A)-poly(T) DNA molecules

Science in China Series B: Chemistry, 2008
The polaron might play an important role in the process of charge migration through duplex DNA stack. In the present work, we investigate properties of hole polarons in DNA molecules containing identical base pairs, such as poly(G)-poly(C) and poly(A)-poly(T), An extended tight-binding model (extended Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model), which involves the ...

High pressure fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of poly(dA)poly(dT), poly(dA) and poly(dT)

Biophysical Chemistry, 1999
The effect of hydrostatic pressure upon the DNA duplex, poly(dA)poly(dT), and its component single strands, poly(dA) and poly(dT) has been studied by fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The spectral data indicate that at 28 degrees C and pressures up to 12 kbar (1200 MPa) all three polymers retain the B conformation.

The Pre-polis Polis

2002
Abstract This chapter considers what was going on in ancient Greece three hundred years before there was any democracy. It shows that just as you could succeed without monarchy, so you could get on without groups of basileia congregating at out-of-the-way cult places.
