A Farewell to Arms… Manufacturing: Learning From a Landmine Producer Who Became a Deminer

open access: yesBusiness Ethics, the Environment &Responsibility, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Certain industries—labeled “dirty,” “sinful,” “stigmatized,” or “controversial”—are under public scrutiny because of the ethical, social, and environmental concerns that they raise. Previous research has typically focused on the industry or organizational level of analysis, examining how companies in controversial industries can enhance their ...

Should We Use Citizens' Assemblies to Make Health Policy?

open access: yesBioethics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article assesses the normative case for using citizens' assemblies—small deliberative forums of randomly selected citizens—in health policymaking. The ‘Prostate Cancer Screening for People at Genetic Risk of Aggressive Disease’ (PATROL) study

open access: yesBJU International, EarlyView.
Background Inherited (germline) pathogenic and likely pathogenic variants (gPVs) in key genes associated with increased risk of prostate cancer (PCa) now warrant more attentive PCa screening per National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines—e.g., BRCA2, HOXB13, ATM, BRCA1, MSH2, MSH6, CHEK2 and TP53.

Computing Skinning Weights via Convex Duality

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present an alternate optimization method to compute bounded biharmonic skinning weights. Our method relies on a dual formulation, which can be optimized with a nonnegative linear least squares setup. Abstract We study the problem of optimising for skinning weights through the lens of convex duality.
