Pollen tube incompatibility reaction on the stigma in selfpollinated Sinapis alba L.

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2014
After selfpollination of Sinapis alba L. pollen tubes growth is inhibited on the stigma. The pollen grains germinate 3-4 hours after pollination. The pollen give rise to one or more pollen tubes. They grow along the papillae.

Analysis of Nicotiana pollen grain and pollen tube XyG. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
(A) shows MALDI-TOF MS analysis of endo-glucanase-generated XyG oligosaccharides released from pollen grain cell walls. (B) shows the XyG oligosaccharides released from 16 hr pollen tubes.

Discriminating Arid Ecosystems and Tracking Desertification Dynamics: Evidence From Grain‐Size End‐Member in the Manas River Basin, Northern Tianshan Mountains

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ecosystem of the Manas River Basin, composed of mountains, oases, and deserts, constitutes an ideal natural laboratory for investigating surface processes and environmental evolution in arid regions. Elucidating the provenance, transport dynamics, and climate response mechanisms of surface sediments in this system is critical for advancing

Collapsing pollen grains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Pollen grains come in all sorts of shapes - they can be spherical, ellipsoidal, lobate, prismatic, polyhedral, and then, there are some which escape easy qualification in terms of geometry. The sizes also differ very much, from less than 10 micrometers (e.g.

Evaluation of Pollen Vitality in Different Sugarcane Genotypes Utilizing Various Techniques and Time Intervals [PDF]

open access: yesResearch Journal of Applied Biotechnology
This study was conducted to contrast two staining techniques for determining pollen viability in sugarcane. At three diverse times (6:30, 8:00, and 9:30 a.m.), pollen from seven sugarcane genotypes was gathered, and its vitality was assessed using ...

Assessing corn pollen flow and outcross in seed and grain production fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Pollen movement and the resulting flow of genes between plant populations have been an integral part of corn evolution. However, the adventitious presence of bioengineered genes in conventional varieties due to gene flow is a serious concern when ...

Sexual reproduction in invasive Japanese knotweed (Reynoutria japonica) in south Sweden

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
To understand the potential for northward expansion of knotweeds into currently uninvaded regions, it is crucial to assess the potential for sexual reproduction alongside the ongoing vegetative spread. For that reason, we tested viability in Reynoutria japonica seeds in south Sweden, a region where viable seeds had not been previously reported ...

COLOUR IMAGE IN 2D AND 3D MICROSCOPY FOR THE AUTOMATION OF POLLEN RATE MEASUREMENT

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2011
Pollen monitoring is of great importance for the prevention of allergy. As this activity is still largely carried out by humans, there is an increasing interest in the automation of pollen monitoring.
