The effect of pollen storage temperatures on pollen viability, fruit set and fruit quality of six date palm cultivars

Scientia Horticulturae, 2018
Asynchronous maturation of male and female flowers in date palm trees is frequently occurs, making pollen storage operation necessary to ensure pollination.

THE RELATIONSHIP OF STORAGE AND VIABILITY OF LILY POLLEN

open access: yesActa Horticulturae, 2003
The study was conducted to estimate the pollen viability of eight lily genotypes and optimum storage conditions. Pollen viability was assessed by in vitro germination, FCR (Fluorochromatic raction) test and fruit set test. Pollen grains were stored in the dark chamber where the temperature was maintained at 4 °C, -20 °C, and ?70 °C and ambient room ...

The viability and storage of strawberry pollen

Plant Breeding, 1995
AbstractInvestigations were carried out in 1990 and 1991 to estimate the pollen viability of five strawberry genotypes and their suitability for storage. Pollen viability was assessed by acetocarmine staining, in vitro germination, and in vivo assays. Pollen was stored in darkness at −18°C for 1 year, and pollen viability was estimated every 4 months ...

Storage and Viability Assessment of Date Palm Pollen

Methods in molecular biology, 2017
Pollen storage and viability are very important for pollination, breeding, biodiversity, biotechnology, conservation, and other biological and non-biological studies of the date palm. Optimizing procedures and duration of storage are important for effective and long-term date palm pollen storage and viability.

Storage of sugarbeet pollen

Euphytica, 1986
To develop the technology for long-term pollen preservation, sugarbeet pollen was collected from plants grown in the greenhouse and in the field, and was stored 1 day to 1 year at 5, -18, and -196°C. Pollen containing about 12% moisture was successfully stored in liquid nitrogen (LN2) up to 1 year; this pollen effected fertilization of male-sterile ...

Effects of postharvest irradiation and superfine grinding wall disruption treatment on the bioactive compounds, endogenous enzyme activities, and antioxidant properties of pine (Pinus yunnanensis) pollen during accelerated storage

, 2021
Effects of irradiation and superfine grinding wall disruption treatment on quality parameters and antioxidant activity of pine pollen during storage at 55 °C for 8 weeks were investigated. Results showed that irradiation slowed the reduction of taxifolin

Short-term storage of cotton pollen

Plant Cell Reports, 1986
Several methods of storing cotton pollen (Gossypium hirsutum L.) were evaluated. A successful pollen storage method that maintains fertility would enhance the crossing of breeding materials. Storing pollen at ultra-low temperatures in liquid nitrogen or at 5°C was not successful. No storage method maintained pollen fertility for more than 72 h.

Pollen storage studies in sugar apple (Annona squamosa L.) cv. Balanagar

Israel journal of plant sciences, 2019
Annona cv. ‘Arka Sahan’ essentially needs assisted pollination with sugar apple pollen for commercial fruit production. However, there is no perfect synchronization in flowering of the pollen source sugar apple cv. Balanagar with that of cv. ‘Arka Sahan’
