Reproductive characterization of interspecific hybrids among Capsicum species [PDF]

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2011
The objective of this study was the reproductive characterization of Capsicum accessions as well as of interspecifichybrids, based on pollen viability. Hybrids were obtained between Capsicum species.

The estimation of pollen viability of snowdrop (Galanthus nivalis L.)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2000
In the present experiment pollen viability of snowdrop were tested using four vital dyes (TTC, Baker' procedure, MTT and FDA) to determine their potential to differentiate fresh living pollen from pollen heated for 12 hours at 80 °C (killed pollen).

Metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses reveal that sucrose synthase regulates maize pollen viability under heat and drought stress

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2022
Maize pollen is highly sensitive to heat and drought, but few studies have investigated the combined effects of heat and drought on pollen viability. In this study, pollen's structural and physiological characteristics were determined after heat, drought,

Factors Influencing Date Pollen Viability

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Marine Sciences [JAMS], 1997
Pollen of seven date cultivars was stored at 4.5 -5.0'C using desiccator with or without silica gel and in vials outside the desicator as a control. Germination percentage was determined microscopically with a hemacytometer after harvest and at three and six months of Storage, respectively, using a boric acid-sucrosce medium.

TOGR3, a Proteasome β4 Subunit, Orchestrates Sugar Homeostasis to Trade Off Growth and Thermotolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a novel thermoregulatory mechanism in rice: TOGR3 partners with 26S proteasome subunits, including TT1, to drive thermoresponsive ubiquitin–proteasome activity, maintaining sugar homeostasis in stomatal regulation to balance growth and stress resistance.

Screening for male fertility status in selected banana genotypes

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2019
In the present study, twenty-five banana cultivars (eight diploids and seventeen triploids) were screened for their male fertility status with reference to the pollen output per anther, pollen size and pollen viability.

ZSL Orchestrates Synaptonemal Complex Assembly as a Central Region Scaffold to Ensure Synapsis Fidelity and Crossover Control in Polyploid Meiosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A central molecular adaptor, ZSL, is identified that links transverse filaments ZYP1 to central element SCEP1/2 to drive synaptonemal complex assembly in Brassica napus. Loss of ZSL abolishes synaptonemal complex formation, disrupts meiotic chromosome segregation, and markedly increases crossovers, providing mechanistic insight into meiotic fidelity ...

Examining the Effects of Prunus Necrotic Ringspot Virus (PNRSV) and Prune Dwarf Virus (PDV) on Peach (Prunus persica) Pollen Health

open access: yesPhytoFrontiers
Pollen health is a key determinant of successful plant reproduction and crop yield. Prunus necrotic ringspot virus (PNRSV) and prune dwarf virus (PDV) are pollen-borne viruses of stone fruits, including peaches, primarily transmitted through vegetative ...
