Honeybush (Cyclopia spp.) pollen viability and surface morphology

open access: yes, 2020
Genotypes of Cyclopia, used to produce honeybush tea, are being improved through selective breeding for suitability in large-scale cultivation and consistent flavour/aroma qualities. Though high levels of natural fecundity have been reported in honeybush

The estimation of pollen viability of snowdrop (Galanthus nivalis L.)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2000
In the present experiment pollen viability of snowdrop were tested using four vital dyes (TTC, Baker' procedure, MTT and FDA) to determine their potential to differentiate fresh living pollen from pollen heated for 12 hours at 80 °C (killed pollen).

Factors Influencing Date Pollen Viability

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Marine Sciences [JAMS], 1997
Pollen of seven date cultivars was stored at 4.5 -5.0'C using desiccator with or without silica gel and in vials outside the desicator as a control. Germination percentage was determined microscopically with a hemacytometer after harvest and at three and six months of Storage, respectively, using a boric acid-sucrosce medium.

Optimising the seed production cycle of Delphinium elatum L. : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Plant Biology at Massey University, Palmerston North [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Delphinium elatum L. (Ranunculaceae) hybrids are developed by Dowdeswell's Delphiniums located at 692 Brunswick Road. Wanganui (www.delphinium.co.nz), who grow delphiniums for seed export. Development of new cultivars is important for commercial purposes,

Cross‐Scale Hierarchical Targeted Delivery System Based on Small‐Scale Magnetic Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article reviews a cross‐scale hierarchical targeted delivery system that integrates magnetic continuum robots and magnetic microrobots. By combining rapid long‐range navigation with precise microscale targeting, the system overcomes key limitations of single‐scale approaches.

Screening for male fertility status in selected banana genotypes

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2019
In the present study, twenty-five banana cultivars (eight diploids and seventeen triploids) were screened for their male fertility status with reference to the pollen output per anther, pollen size and pollen viability.

Agent-Based Modeling of Pollen Competition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Non-random mating in Arabidopsis Thaliana is, at least in part, due to intense competition between pollen grains to fertilize the limited number of ovules.

Biparental inbreeding depression, genetic relatedness and progeny vigor in a wind-pollinated treeline species in Argentina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Spatially restricted gene flow and resulting spatial genetic structure are generally considered as being the primary controlling factors in the dynamics of biparental inbreeding depression in a wide range of plant species.
