Assessment of stock state for walleye pollock in the Okhotsk Sea in the spring 2013

Results of the trawl and ichthyoplankton surveys conducted in the northern Okhotsk Sea in the spring of 2013 are presented. In comparison with 2012, the abundance of walleye pollock decreased in 1.8 times and its biomass - in 1.4 times.

Walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus Pallas, 1814 found north of Spitsbergen indicates a Pacific-Atlantic connection in the species

A small (36.5 cm) female walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus Pallas, 1814 was caught north of Spitsbergen in 2011. The specimen had a high number of pyloric caeca (n=109), indicating a Pacific origin.
