Tuning electronic structure of the carbon skeleton to accelerate electron transfer for promoting the capture of gold

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2023
The efficient and selective recovery of gold from secondary sources is key to sustainable development. However, the complexity of the recovery environment can significantly complicate the compositions of utilized sorbents. Here, we report a straw-derived

Oxidative 1,2-carboamination of alkenes with alkyl nitriles and amines toward γ-amino alkyl nitriles

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Difunctionalization of readily available alkenes is a powerful method to quickly build molecular complexity. Here the authors report a three-component, oxidative carboamination between alkenes, alkyl nitriles and amines, producingγ-amino alkyl nitriles.

Fenton-like activity and pathway modulation via single-atom sites and pollutants comediates the electron transfer process

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America
Significance The origin of versatile oxidation pathways toward targeted pollutants in the single-atom catalysts (SACs)/peroxymonosulfate (PMS) systems is always identified from the coordination structures rather than from the perspective of pollutant ...

Spectral pollution

open access: yesIMA Journal of Numerical Analysis, 2004
We discuss the problems arising when computing eigenvalues of self-adjoint operators which lie in a gap between two parts of the essential spectrum. Spectral pollution, i.e. the apparent existence of eigenvalues in numerical computations, when no such eigenvalues actually exist, is commonplace in problems arising in applied mathematics.

Marine Pollution [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 1971
In the editorial, "Marine pollution" (8 January 1971, page 21), the value given for the concentration of mercury found in tuna (paragraph 2, line 10, 0.5 x 10-6 part per billion) is incorrect. The correct value is 500 parts per billion.
