Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Experimentally Validated Design Principles of D‐Block Transition Metal Single‐Atom Non‐Dissociative Chemisorption Solid‐State Hydrogen Storage Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel descriptor and a bottom‐up design principle are established to enable the rational design of hydrogen storage materials based on d‐block transition metal single‐atom COFs. By modulating H₂ adsorption through d‐orbital tuning, this approach achieves both high storage capacity and fast kinetics, while revealing a volcano‐type relationship between

POLLUTION AND WELFARE IN THE PRESENCE OF INFORMAL SECTOR: IS THERE ANY TRADE-OFF? [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a three-sector general equilibrium model with an informal sector, which produces an intermediary for the formal sector, and analyze the effects of different policies on the environmental standard and welfare of the economy.

Polaronic and Electrochemical Signatures in Group IVB (Ti, Zr, Hf) Oxides: Unified SKP–DFT Insights for Tunable Transport in Energy and Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Charge carrier concentration and mobility in TiO2, ZrO2, and HfO2 powder films are experimentally mapped as a function of temperature. The results uncover polaron‐mediated transport regimes and field‐activated conduction, enabling the design of oxide‐based electronic and energy devices with thermally tunable functionality.

Microeukaryotic communities diversity with a special emphasis on protozoa taxa in an integrated wastewater treatment system

open access: yesEnvironmental Sciences Europe
This study developed an integrated wastewater treatment system that combines an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB), downflow hanging non-woven fabric (DHNW), and anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR) to explore the effect of treatment stages on the ...

Alginate‐Sludge Derived Biochar‐Calcium Hydrogel for Phosphate Removal and Slow‐Release Fertilizer: A Sustainable and Multifunctional Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An alginate‐based biochar hydrogel (ABC‐hydrogel), derived from sewage sludge, is developed for simultaneous phosphate removal and agricultural reuse. It captures phosphorus from water and gradually releases it as fertilizer, enhancing lettuce growth.
