Diffuse pollution of surface water by pharmaceutical products
Pharmaceutical products for humans or animals, as well as their related metabolites (degradation products) end up in the aquatic environment after use. Recent investigations from abroad show that low concentrations of pharmaceuticals are detectable in municipal waste water, surface water, groundwater and even drinking water.

Dynamics and optimal control for a spatially-structured environmental-economic model
A deterministic model of economic growth and pollution accumulation, in the form of a system of partial differential equations, is designed and analyzed. The model assumes pollution as a by-product of production.

Spatially explicit groundwater vulnerability assessment to support the implementation of the Water Framework Directive – a practical approach with stakeholders [PDF]
The main objective of the study presented in this paper was to develop an evaluation scheme which is suitable for spatially explicit groundwater vulnerability assessment according to the Water Framework Directive (WFD).

Issues of diffuse pollution model complexity arising from performance benchmarking [PDF]
Flow and nitrate dynamics were simulated in two catchments, the River Aire in northern England and the River Ythan in north-east Scotland. In the case of the Aire, a diffuse pollution model was coupled with a river quality model (CASCADE-QUESTOR); in the

Who Are the Stakeholders in Environmental Risk Decisions - How Should They Be Involved [PDF]
[Excerpt] In the United States, as in other countries, public participation in environmental policy decisions has come a long way. In its infancy, it was limited to public hearings concerning decisions that were, for all practical purposes, done deals.
