Dual Roads of CENP‐A for Centromere Identification

The Mis18C and CENP‐C pathways are structurally distinct in centromeres; however, each pathway acts on a pre‐existing CENP‐A nucleosome and recruits HJURP to deposit a new CENP‐A nucleosome nearby during the early G1 phase. This dual, structurally guided mechanism helps maintain centromere identity in chicken cells throughout cell divisions.
