The Disordered Region of ASXL1 Acts as an Auto‐Regulator Through Condensation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ASXL1's long IDR encodes an electrostatic “basic platform + acidic brake” that autoregulates condensation. Truncation at a clinical hotspot lifts this brake, forming condensates that retarget BRD2, remodel local chromatin accessibility, and impair neutrophil maturation.

Band structures of II-VI semiconductors using Gaussian basis functions with separable ab initio pseudopotentials: Application to prediction of band offsets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We describe the implementation of a separable pseudopotential into the dual space approach for ab initio density-functional calculations using Gaussian basis functions.

Determination of the activity and the average annual dose of absorbed uranium and polonium in drinking water from Warsaw

open access: yesJournal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2018
Uranium and polonium isotopes were measured in tap water and groundwater from the Warsaw area (Poland). The mean values of 210Po, 234U and 238U in surface intakes were 0.12, 3.91 and 2.75 mBq dm−3 and for deep water intakes were 0.25, 0.24 and 0.20 mBq ...

Unpaired Learning‐Enabled Nanotube Identification from AFM Images

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Identifying nanotubes on rough substrates is notoriously challenging for conventional image analysis. This work presents an unpaired deep learning approach that automatically extracts nanotube networks from atomic force microscopy images, even on complex polymeric surfaces used in roll‐to‐roll printing.

Radiological Monitoring of Waters in Bulgaria [PDF]

open access: yesBulgarian Journal of Soil Science
The radiological indicators of drinking and groundwaters from different regions of Bulgaria were tested and analyzed in 2024 in connection with the regular monitoring of waters in Bulgaria. Higher uranium content than the norm regulated in the national

Radon mitigation during the installation of the CUORE $0\nu\beta\beta$ decay detector

open access: yes, 2018
CUORE - the Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events - is an experiment searching for the neutrinoless double-beta ($0\nu\beta\beta$) decay of $^{130}$Te with an array of 988 TeO$_2$ crystals operated as bolometers at $\sim$10 mK in a large ...

Inside the Microreactor: In Situ Real‐Time Observation of Vapor–Liquid–Solid Growth of Monolayer TMDCs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In situ observation of VLS growth in a confined microreactor reveals various growth modes of monolayer TMDCs, including abnormal ribbon growth and particle‐driven growth. The confined space and precursor balance influence droplet behavior and growth dynamics, offering new insights into the controlled synthesis of TMDCs via the VLS mechanism.

Programmable Nanoscale Motion via Molecular Patterning on DNA Origami

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
DNA origami nanorods enable precise urease placement with tunable coverage and asymmetry, revealing that propulsion depends on a balance of catalytic loading and geometry. Maximum speed occurs at ∼25% end‐coverage and declines as enzyme distribution becomes more symmetrical.

Displacive In‐Plane Ferroelectricity with Domain‐Specific Curie Temperature in Van der Waals Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temperature‐dependent electron diffraction on tin monochalcogenides demonstrates a gradual displacive transformation between ferroelectric and paraelectric phases with significant variability in lattice constants and Curie temperature (TC). Periodic variations exist even between domains in individual crystals, implying a domain‐specific Curie ...

A route for polonium 210 production from alpha-particle irradiated bismuth-209 target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A method is proposed for production of polonium-210 via the 209Bi(α, 3n)210At nuclear reaction. Bombardment of a bismuth-209 target was performed with a 37 MeV alpha-particle beam that leads to the production of astatine-210 (T1/2 = 8.1 h), which decays ...
