Model-Based Polsar Decompositions: Virtues and Vices
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018Model-based polarimetric decompositions have long been applied to classify polarimetric SAR imagery. This long and successful history has, at times, been interrupted by nagging issues: polarimetric orientation angle effects, negative scattering powers, simplistic scattering models, etc.

Polsar Speckle Filtering Using Iterative MMSE
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018In this paper, we extend the use of the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) iterative minimum mean square error (IMMSE) technique to polarimetric SAR (Po1SAR) speckle filtering. Experimental results prove that the proposed approach especially reduces speckle in the extended homogenous areas and, meanwhile, better preserves the spatial details and the ...

Model-based statistical analysis of PolSAR data
2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2009In this paper, we consider statistical analysis of PolSAR data in the framework of the multivariate product model. The complex scattering vector is here considered as a double stochastic circular Gaussian variable, in which the variance is linearly scaled by a common stochastic scaling factor z. The scaling factor is associated with texture. We discuss

Analysis of textured PolSAR data by shannon entropy
2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012The Shannon entropy has previously been used in the analysis of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) data, assuming a complex Gaussian distribution for the scattering vector. According to the maximum entropy characterization theorem, the deviation from Gaussian statistics can be quantified as a reduction of the Shannon entropy.

Faint Ship Wake Detection in PolSAR Images
IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2018Focusing on the faint turbulent wake detection in polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) images, this letter introduces a novel two-step (coarse and fine processing) detector. Based on the polarization decomposition theory, a new parameter that enhances the contrast between wake and sea, which is called surface scattering randomness (SSR), is ...

Structure preserving bilateral filtering for PolSAR data
2014 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2014This paper proposes a structure preserving bilateral filtering (SPBF) for Polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) image. By adopting the edge structural characteristics and surface scattering features, the performance of filter is improved and the loss of structure is reduced.

POLSAR image factorization and its extended applications
2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017POLSAR image factorization is proposed as an extension of polarimetric SAR incoherent target decomposition. It simultaneously estimates a dictionary of meaningful atom scatterers and their corresponding spatial distribution maps from POLSAR image.
