PolSAR image denoising using directional diffusion
2016 12th IEEE International Symposium on Electronics and Telecommunications (ISETC), 2016We propose a novel directional diffusion method for denoising Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) images degraded by speckle noise. The method is developed using the Partial Differential Equations (PDE) formalism and it employs an edge detection function that takes as arguments the multiplicative gradient norm and locally adaptive thresholds.

PolSAR image classification using discriminative clustering
2017 International Workshop on Remote Sensing with Intelligent Processing (RSIP), 2017This paper presents a novel unsupervised image classification method for polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) data. The proposed method is based on a discriminative clustering framework that explicitly relies on a discriminative supervised classification technique to perform unsupervised clustering. To implement this idea, we design an energy

Polsar Speckle Filtering Using Iterative MMSE
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018In this paper, we extend the use of the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) iterative minimum mean square error (IMMSE) technique to polarimetric SAR (Po1SAR) speckle filtering. Experimental results prove that the proposed approach especially reduces speckle in the extended homogenous areas and, meanwhile, better preserves the spatial details and the ...

Target Polarimetric Decompositions of PolSAR Image
2021Target polarimetric decomposition is one of the most important aspects of polarimetric microwave imaging. The objective of polarimetric decomposition is to express the polarimetric information of the target as a combination of many known objects, such as a plate, a dihedral, a helix, a line, and a sphere, so we can understand and analyze the scattering

Evaluation of polsar similarity measures with spectral clustering
2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) is a valuable remote sensing data source. It is usually challenging to interpret PolSAR data, especially in urban areas, and hense, spatial clustering comes as a powerful tool for the application of PolSAR data. In data clustering, similarity measurement indexes are of great importance.

Multitemporal PolSAR for snow cover monitoring
2011The paper describes development and application of techniques for snow cover monitoring in the boreal forest zone during snow melt using C-band polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) data. A time series of 10 quadpolarimetric RadarSat-2 images acquired during snow melting season in Finland were used in the study. A change detection approach was applied for wet snow

Similarity-intensity joint PolSAR speckle filtering
2016 CIE International Conference on Radar (RADAR), 2016This paper proposes an innovative similarity-intensity joint speckle filtering algorithm for the polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR). By inducing a newly defined similarity-intensity (SI) parameter, the homogeneous pixels with respect to the central pixel can be selected within a neighboring region based on both the scattering mechanism and ...
