Mono‐Materials Created by Engineering a Continuum of P3HB Stereomicrostructures in a One‐Step Catalytic Process

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 3, 16 January 2026.
Diastereomeric mixtures of diolide were polymerized to P3HB mono‐materials that behave like thermoplastics, thermoplastic elastomers, and pressure‐sensitive adhesives, which were then combined to create all‐P3HB mono‐material tapes. Abstract Multi‐material products that combine multiple complementary polymers can create products with desired ...

A novel glucose beta‐hydroxybutyrate combination improves hypoglycaemia recovery and patient‐reported outcomes in type 1 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Hypoglycaemia remains a major barrier to optimal diabetes management. Current treatments based on simple sugars have limitations, including rapid glucose fluctuations and persistent neuroglycopenic symptoms. We investigated FLO23011, a novel multi‐substrate energy formulation containing glucose and beta‐hydroxybutyrate, as a superior ...

The role of substrate materials for the survival and growth of coral micro‐fragment sheets

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Biofouling can have a negative impact on the survival and growth of corals in aquaculture. For coral aquaculture to support reef restoration, there needs to be a cost‐effective and efficient method that reduces the reliance on labor for coral maintenance.

Natural Antioxidants as Thermal Stabilizers in Fully Biobased PHBV Compounds

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 9, March 5, 2026.
Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are promising biobased polymers but degrade easily under heat and oxygen. This study examines PHBV with natural antioxidants to enhance thermal stability during processing. Results show regenerative additives prevent degradation and the effectiveness is comparable to that of synthetic additives.

Mechanical Characterization of Additively Manufactured Poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyhexanoate) Biopolymer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 9, March 5, 2026.
Thermal behavior, specimen fabrication, and mechanical benchmarking of PHBH produced by additive manufacturing and injection molding. ABSTRACT Poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyhexanoate) (PHBH) is a biodegradable polyester with strong potential for marine and packaging applications common for thermoplastic polymers, yet its performance after being ...

Prostaglandin D2 Synthase Controls Schwann Cells Metabolism and Peripheral Myelin Homeostasis

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 3, March 2026.
Prostaglandin D2 Synthase (L‐PGDS) controls PPNS myelin lipids’ composition and Schwann cells energetic metabolism In the absence of L‐PGDS Schwann cells turn to acetate as the main energetic source. These metabolic changes result in ketone bodies production to preserve neuronal survival.

Effect of chain extender and water-quenching on the properties of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate) foams for its production by extrusion foaming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Bacterial polyesters such as polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are of great interest for a large number of applications both because of their properties and because they come from renewable resources, despite having a higher cost than commodity polymers ...
