Surface Functionalization of Polyetheretherketone With Immobilized γ‐Polyglutamic Acid for Enhanced Apatite Formation

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
The authors developed chemical solution process to immobilize γ‐polyglutamic acid (γ‐PGA) onto polyetheretherketone (PEEK). Prior hydrophilic treatment using UV irradiation improved the immobilization efficiency of γ‐PGA and the apatite‐forming ability in simulated body fluid compared with acetic acid treatment.

Toughening of BIS maleimide resins: Synthesis and characterization of maleimide terminated poly(arylene ether) oligomers and polymers [PDF]

open access: yes
Amine functional poly(arylene ether) sulfones were previously reported. Herein, the chemistry was extended to amorphous poly(arylene ether) ketones because of their higher fracture toughness values, relative to the polysulfones.

Biocatalysis Under Reduced Pressure; Two‐Step, One‐Pot Amide Synthesis Using an Immobilised Transaminase/Lipase Cascade in Combination With By‐Product Removal

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
The application of biocatalytic cascades for organic synthesis can be encouraged through the use of easy‐to‐handle, immobilised enzymes and common laboratory equipment. We present a sequential biocatalytic cascade reaction that couples a transaminase (ATA) with a lipase, and achieves high conversion and enantioselectivity through by‐product removal ...

Dynamic Covalent Polymeric Foams: En Route to a Sustainable Lightness

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
Dynamic covalent polymer foams (DCPFs) combine lightweight cellular structures with adaptive polymer networks, enabling self‐healing, reprocessability, and recyclability. By integrating reversible covalent bonds into foam architectures, these materials open new pathways toward sustainable porous polymers within a circular materials economy.
