About the Ageing‐Induced Modifications of Physical‐Chemical and Electrical Properties of Polyimide (PMDA‐ODA) Under Gamma Radiation and High Temperatures

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the effects of radiation‐induced ageing on the physical, chemical, mechanical and electrical properties of Poly[4,4′‐oxydiphenylene‐ pyromellitimide] (PMDA‐ODA) polyimide, a high‐performance insulation material widely used in aerospace applications.

Recreational Allergic Contact Dermatitis to “Epoxy UV” Resins: A New Source of Exposure to Hidden (Meth)acrylates

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, EarlyView.
We report three cases of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) caused by acrylic resins used in creative hobbies, rather than by epoxy resins, despite these products being incorrectly labelled as “epoxy UV” resins. ABSTRACT Background Several cases of contact allergy to epoxy resins used in creative hobbies have been reported in recent years but not to ...

Structural characterization and optimum machining parameters of jute/carbon fibre hybrid reinforced epoxy composite laminates

open access: yesPolymer International, Volume 75, Issue 9, Page 804-817, September 2026.
Hybrid jute/carbon epoxy laminates have better mechanical performance and less drilling damage by the use of optimized stacking sequence and machining parameters. Abstract Three composite laminate systems were produced using the standard hand lay‐up method: jute‐fibre‐reinforced polymer (JFRP), carbon‐fibre‐reinforced polymer (CFRP) and a hybrid of the

Synthesis of the Core Tetracycle of the Spirobiflavonoid Daphnodorin C

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 30, 12 August 2026.
Core spirotetracycle of daphnodorin C: Oxidative ring contraction of benzofuro[3,2‐b]chromenones affords novel 2,3′‐spirobi[benzofuran]diones, rather than the isomeric spiroketals. The first synthesis of the spirobi[benzofuran]dione core structure of the spirobiflavonoid daphnodorin C is described.

Joining-by-hydroforming of aluminum and poly(ether ether ketone) – A model experiment

open access: yesAdvances in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
Joining-by-hydroforming is a process in which components are joined through expansion under internal pressure. Depending on the required fluid pressure and application rate, this process can be technically demanding and challenging to implement on ...

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 15, 5 August 2026.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

Low-cost automated flat-sheet membrane casting: An open-source, advanced manufacturing approach

open access: yesJournal of Membrane Science Letters
Novel membrane materials developed in research labs struggle to gain widespread industrial adoption due in part to insufficient reproducibility and unreliable performance data.

MiR‐940 Suppresses Ferroptosis by Controlling Expression of Key Regulatory Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 46, 17 August 2026.
A CRISPR‐based screening identified miR‐940 as a critical suppressor of ferroptosis in cancer. By coordinating the downregulation of pro‐ferroptotic genes with the upregulation of GPX4, miR‐940 establishes a regulatory network that protects against ferroptosis and correlates with poor clinical outcomes in distinct cancer entities.
