Poly(ethylene oxide) surfactant polymers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biomaterials Science, Polymer Edition, 2004
We report on a series of structurally well-defined surfactant polymers that undergo surface-induced self-assembly on hydrophobic biomaterial surfaces. The surfactant polymers consist of a poly(vinyl amine) backbone with poly(ethylene oxide) and hexanal pendant groups. The poly(vinyl amine) (PVAm) was synthesized by hydrolysis of poly(N-vinyl formamide)

Chemical and Thermal Evaluation of Commercial and Medical Grade PEEK Sterilization by Ethylene Oxide [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2016
Many polymers have been used as biomaterials due to their physicochemical characteristics and structural versatility. However, usage on the human body requires sterilization in order to prevent microbial contamination and diminish the risk of rejection ...

Nanocomposites with Liquid-Like Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes Dispersed in Epoxy Resin without Solvent Process

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, 2014
Liquid-like multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were prepared with as-received carboxylic MWNTs-COOH and poly(ethylene oxide)-block-poly(propylene oxide)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-b-PPO-b-PEO) through hydrogen bonding.

Phase Behavior and Structure of Poloxamer Block Copolymers in Protic and Aprotic Ionic Liquids

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Ionic liquids are promising media for self-assembling block copolymers in applications such as energy storage. A robust design of block copolymer formulations in ionic liquids requires fundamental knowledge of their self-organization at the nanoscale. To

Grafted ionomer complexes and their effect on protein adsorption on silica and polysulfone surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
peer reviewedWe have studied the formation and the stability of ionomer complexes from grafted copolymers (GICs) in solution and the influence of GIC coatings on the adsorption of the proteins beta-lactoglobulin (beta-lac), bovine serum albumin (BSA ...

Critical Size of Secondary Nuclei Determined via Nucleation Theorem Reveals Selective Nucleation in Three-Component Co-Crystals

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
The critical size of the secondary nuclei plays an important role in determining the crystal growth rate. In the past, the Nucleation Theorem has been applied to determine the number of molecules in the critical nuclei of a single-component crystal via ...

Improvement of mechanical properties of chitosan film [PDF]

open access: yesJournal on Processing and Energy in Agriculture, 2012
This paper investigates the intensity of the influence which poly (ethylene oxide) and poly(ethylene glycol) additions have on the mechanical and structural properties of chitosan films.

Insights into the Thermal Response of a Poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) Triblock Polymer in Water

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2021
A thermal responsive block copolymer made up of ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO) blocks was simulated with optimized atomistic potentials and enhanced sampling methods over a range of temperatures. The results for the L42 pluronic polymer (EO)4(PO)22(EO)4, which is known to undergo a transition in this temperature range, and the similarly ...
