We present a novel approach to the fabrication of advanced polymeric nanocomposites from poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) by incorporation of PVA-grafted graphene oxide. In this work, we have synthesized PVA-grafted graphene oxide (PVA-g-GO) for the strong interfacial adhesion of graphene oxide (GO) to the PVA matrix.

Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) Sloviol R was modified to different degrees by acetalization reactions with aldehyde (formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, propionaldehyde and n-butyraldehyde) for 6 h at 60°C in the presence of HCl as catalyst. Samples of the modified PVA were tested as dispersants in vinyl chloride suspension polymerization.

AbstractThe effect of degradation on poly (vinyl acetate) (PVAc) during hydrolysis to poly (vinyl alcohol) is significantly greater with higher molecular weight PVAc than with that of lower molecular weight.There is no data, in literature however, of comparative studies of alcoholysis on commercial samples of PVAc.

Osmotic and light scattering observations are reported for chemically cross-linked poly(vinyl alcohol) and poly(vinyl alcohol-vinyl acetate) hydrogels and the corresponding semidilute polymer solutions. The osmotic contribution of the network polymer is obtained from swelling pressure and shear modulus measurements.
