Solubility of vinyl chloride in poly (vinyl chloride) in a water slurry
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1978AbstractThe solubility of vinyl chloride (VCM) vapor in poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) in a water slurry has been measured between 55 and 65°C. The heat and entropy of sorption were shown to be very close to those of condensation. The solubilities measured in this study were higher than those obtained in other studies on dry PVC and PVC latex.

Determination of residual vinyl chloride in poly(vinyl chloride) resins
Journal of Chromatography A, 1980Abstract The determination of residual vinyl chloride (VC) in poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) powders based on thermal desorbtion in a carrier gas stream and trapping of the VC is described. A trap is installed in the heated injection port of a gas chromatograph and desorbed volatiles are chromatographed by a two-stage chromatographic system.

Photostability of Poly(Vinyl Chloride)/Poly(Vinyl Alcohol) Blends
Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 2004Photooxidative degradation and photocrosslinking of poly(vinyl chloride), poly(vinyl alcohol)and their blends with different components ratio has been investigated in accelerated laboratory conditions. It was found that PVC is less photostable than PVAL, in which the photocrosslinking is more efficient.

The photodegradation of poly(vinyl chloride) films—I
European Polymer Journal, 1971Abstract Cast poly(vinyl chloride) films have been irradiated by ultra-violet light at various intensities and temperatures under a nitrogen atmosphere. The dehydrochlorination reaction is shown to occur in two parts. During the first hour the reaction is dependent on intensity and temperature but later it is independent of these two parameters.

Gas Production in the Radiolysis of Poly(vinyl chloride)
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2008The yields of H2 and Cl- were determined in the radiolysis of deaerated, aerated, and water mixtures of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) powders with gamma-rays and 5 MeV He ions. H2 yields with gamma-rays are low at about 0.25 molecule/100 eV and they double with He ion radiolysis indicating a second order formation process.
