Microinjection molding of polyamide 6

Polymers for Advanced Technologies, 2014
Processing polymers by microinjection molding (μIM) generate specific constraints upon the polymer melt such as high shear stress and rapid cooling, leaving a mark upon the microstructure of the micropart. The present work compares the morphology and structure of polyamide 6 samples produced by melt extrusion and μIM.

Electrospun polyamide-6/chitosan nanofibers reinforced nano-hydroxyapatite/polyamide-6 composite bilayered membranes for guided bone regeneration

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2021
Periodontal defect poses a significant challenge in orthopedics. Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) membrane is considered as one of the most successful methods applied to reconstruct alveolar bone and then to achieve periodontal defect repair/regeneration.

Effect of polyamide 6 on the mechanical behavior of thermoplastic polyurethanes/polyamide 6 blends

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2021
Ductility and tensile strength are among the basic mechanical properties of polymers. Generally, it is difficult to enhance the ductility without significantly reducing the tensile strength. In this study, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is mixed with 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, and 12.5% polyamide 6 (PA6).

HALS in polyamide 6 polymerization

Macromolecular Symposia, 2003
AbstractThe use of Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers (HALS) directly in polyamide 6 polymerization can cause some problems. The following two problems were the focus of our project:1) We investigated, from a theoretical point of view, the results of introducing directly one of the precursors of HALS into polyamide 6 polymerization. For the investigation,

Processability of polysulfone improved by adding polyamide 6 and polysulfone‐polyamide 6 block copolymer

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2014
ABSTRACTAlthough polysulfone (PSU) is a potential thermoplastic engineering plastic with high heat resistance, good dimensional stability and excellent mechanical properties, its poor processability has greatly restricted its application in electrical, aerospace, and medical fields. In this work, polyamide 6 (PA6) and PSU‐PA6 block copolymer (PSU‐b‐PA6)

Physical Properties of Polyblends of Polyamide 6 Polymer with Cationic Dyeable Polyamide 6 Polymer

Journal of Polymer Research, 2004
Polyamide 6 (PA 6) and cationic dyeable polyamide 6 (CD-PA 6) polymers were blended mechanically in the proportions of 75/25, 50/50, 25/75 in a melt twin-screw extruder to prepare three PA 6/CD-PA 6 polyblended polymers. The molar ratio of dimethyl 5-sulfoisophthalate sodium salt (SIPM) for CD-PA 6 polymer was 2%.

Compatibilizing effect of polyarylate-polyamide-6 block copolymers on polyarylate/polyamide-6 blends: 2

Polymer, 1996
Abstract Ternary blends of polyarylate (PAr), polyamide-6 (PA-6) and PAr-PA-6 block copolymer were prepared by the dissolution/precipitation method or by melt blending. The compatibilizing effect of PAr-PA-6 block copolymer was observed with scanning electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry.

Investigation of surface properties of plasma-modified polyamide 6 and polyamide 6/layered silicate nanocomposites

Journal of Materials Science, 2010
Polyamide 6 and polyamide 6/layered silicate nanocomposites were treated by oxygen plasma and the resulting surfaces were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared-attenuated total reflection (FTIR-ATR). The surface properties were also analyzed by water contact angle measurements and Taber abrasion test. It

Polymorphism in polyamide 6 and polyamide 6/clay nanocomposites molded via water-assisted injection molding

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2012
Abstract Differing from the conventional injection molding, being featured by a monotonous decrease of cooling rate from the outer layer to the core layer, the water-assisted injection molding (WAIM) is characterized by a unique distribution of cooling rate across the part wall, which would be expected to result in the formation of unique ...

Melt stabilization of wet polyamide 6

Polymer Degradation and Stability, 2002
Abstract Melt processing of polycondensate polymers must be carried out after careful drying in order to avoid any hydrolytic chain scission caused by the presence of water or other small molecules. In this work, the effect of two different antioxidants on the processing and flow properties of a polyamide 6 sample not dried before processing ...
