Recent correlations of membrane polymer structures with desalting properties in hyperfiltration experiments have demonstrated the high desalting performance of polyimide membranes (1). Membranes were synthesized which were suitable for seawater desalination with a salt rejection of about 99.7% at 100 atm and at a feed solution of 0.6 M NaCl.

Miscibility of polyamide-6,6 with aromatic polyamides

The polyamides with aromatic rings in the main chain were synthesized by the solution polymerization of 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and aliphatic dicarboxylic acid in the presence of catalyst. The thermal properties and the miscibility behaviours with polyamide-6,6 of these aromatic polyamides were studied.
