On the failure assessment diagram methodology in polyamide 12

open access: yesEngineering Fracture Mechanics, 2022
For the first time, the Failure Assessment Diagrams of Polyamide 12, PA12, processed via a conventional technique as injection moulding, IM, and an additive manufacturing technique as Selective Laser Sintering, SLS, were determined via Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using a stress–strain equation more appropriate to describe the mechanical behaviour of ...

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Coupled Chemical and Mechanical Control of the Pore Size in Carbon Honeycomb Membranes for Water Desalination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The advancement of 3D carbon nanostructures for next‐generation desalination membranes is hindered by limited control of the pore size to ensure effective salt rejection. Chemical functionalization and mechanical modification are known approaches to address the problem, while the combined effect of the two approaches remains unexplored.
