Vacuum Compatibility of 3D-Printed Materials

open access: yes, 2013
The fabrication fidelity and vacuum properties are tested for currently available 3D-printed materials including polyamide, glass, acrylic, and sterling silver. The silver was the only material found to be suitable to ultrahigh vacuum environments due to

Low temperature processing of solution-derived ceria deposits on flat surfaces of 3D-printed polyamide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Doped ceria deposits have been prepared on 3D-printed polyamide-12 components starting from inkjet-compatible solutions in an attempt to functionalize the surface of the plastic part, followed by a low temperature decomposition process at 160¿°C in air ...

Improvement of thermal, electrical, and tribological performances of GnPs composites produced by selective laser sintering

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Production of the GnPs/PA‐12 particle composites through the SLS system lead to improvements up to 81% in wear resistance, 33.6% in thermal performance and showed a hydrophobic behaviour (43.3% increase of the contact angle) compared to the bare PA‐12 matrix.

Intumescent, catalyzed flame retardant systems for polyamide‐based powder bed fusion

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, EarlyView.
Manufacturing and flame testing of a synergistic flame retardant system based on PA12 in selective laser sintering. Abstract Flame‐retardant properties of polymer components are essential to a broad variety of applications. However, the processing of flame‐retardant thermoplastics in laser‐based powder bed fusion remains challenging.

Analysis of Selective Laser Sintering print parameter modelling methodologies for energy input minimisation : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Engineering in Mechatronics at Massey University, Albany, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Additive Manufacturing (AM) is the name given to a series of processes used to create solids, layer upon layer, from 3 Dimensional (3D) models. As AM experiences rapid growth there exists an opportunity for Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) to expand ...
