Methanol permeability and proton conductivity of polybenzimidazole and sulfonated polybenzimidazole

Polymer International, 2004
Abstract The preparation of sulfonated polybenzimidazole (sPBI) by the grafting of (4‐bromomethyl) benzenesulfonate onto polybenzimidazole (PBI) has been investigated. The methanol permeability and proton conductivity of PBI and sPBI have been studied, and the effects of methanol concentration and temperature on ...

Polybenzimidazoles. IV. Polybenzimidazoles containing aryl ether linkages

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: General Papers, 1965
AbstractSome polybenzimidazole polymers which have aryl ether linkages between the recurring units have been prepared in order to study their thermal stability and their film‐ and fiber‐forming properties. All of the polymers prepared were soluble, high molecular weight materials with very good thermal stability.

Polybenzimidazoles. II

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: General Papers, 1963
AbstractA polybenzimidazole has been prepared from 3,3′‐diaminobenzidine and phthalic anhydride which has a high molecular weight and very good heat stability. Replacement of the hydrogen atoms on the nitrogen of the imidazole nuclei in a polybenzimidazole does not improve the heat stability as indicated by the properties of poly‐2,6‐(m‐phenylene)‐3,5 ...
