The effect of the microstructure on the phase behavior of mixtures of polybutadiene (PB) and poly(ethylene-co-1-butene) (PEB) with polystyrene (PS) has been investigated. A series of PBs with 1,2-addition content ranging from 7 to 93% were synthesized by anionic polymerization, and a portion of each was subsequently hydrogenated to yield PEB.

Crosslink density in polybutadiene
Journal of Polymer Science, 1958AbstractThe crosslink density in polybutadiene has been determined by measurement of the polymer molecular weight by osmometry and the primary chain molecular weight by modifier analysis involving radioactive materials. Since the number of polymer molecules is equal to the number of primary chains less the number of crosslinkages, the experimental ...

Synthesis of isoprenic polybutadiene macromonomers for the preparation of branched polybutadiene
European Polymer Journal, 2019Abstract Polybutadiene macromonomers with a high 1,4-microstructure content and a polymerizable isoprene end group were synthesized by termination of living polybutadienyllithium chains. While different isoprene derivatives were investigated as terminating agents for the preparation of the macromonomers, 2-bromomethyl-1,3-butadiene provided the best ...

AbstractA series of polyurethane (PU) films made from toluene diisocyanate (TDI), 1,4‐butanediol (BDO), and hydroxyl‐terminated polybutadiene (HTPB), hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene/styrene (HTBS), or hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene/acrylonitrile (HTBN) was synthesized by solution polymerization.

Abstract Polybutadienes made with six different catalyst systems were examined: (1) butyllithium, (2) “nickel-based”, (3) alfin, (4) “titanium-based”, (5) “cobalt-based”, and (6) free radical emulsion. The microstructure and macrostructure of the polybutadienes have been determined and are compared to the results published in the literature ...

Photoisomerization of polybutadiene
Journal of Polymer Science Part C: Polymer Symposia, 1967AbstractPolybutadiene, in the solid state, and in the absence of added sensitizer, undergoes photochemical cis‐trans isomerization and loss of unsaturation when irradiated in vacua with krypton 1236 A. or mercury 2537 A. radiation. The estimated quantum yields for these two reactions are 0.25 and 1.53, respectively, for the krypton irradiations, and 0 ...

Near‐IR spectrum of polybutadiene
Journal of Polymer Science Part A: Polymer Chemistry, 1996Abstract : The vibrational overtone spectrum of polybutadiene was recorded up to 14,000/cm and interpreted in the local mode model. The methylenic and olefinic CH stretch progressions, with anharmonicities of 66 and 59/cm, respectively, were identified for delta v = 2, 3,4 and 5.
