Anellida: Holoplanktonic Polychaeta
2017This chapter describes the taxonomy of Polychaeta, an almost exclusively marine group of organisms belonging to the phylum Annelida. With over 10,000 species described worldwide, they represent one of the most abundant animal taxa in the marine environment. The chapter covers their life cycle, ecology, and general morphology. It includes a section that

Revision of Autolytinae (Syllidae: Polychaeta)
Zootaxa, 2004Autolytinae is revised based on available types, and newly collected specimens. Out of 170 nominal species, 18 are considered as incertae sedis, 43 are regarded as junior synonyms, and 25 are referred to as nomina dubia. The relationships of Autolytinae is assessed from 51 morphological characters and 211 states for 76 ingroup-taxa, and 460 molecular ...

Functional Morphology of Eunicidan (Polychaeta) Jaws
The Biological Bulletin, 2017Polychaetes exhibit diverse feeding strategies and diets, with some species possessing hardened teeth or jaws of varying complexity. Species in the order Eunicida have complex, rigid, articulated jaws consisting of multiple pairs of maxillae and a pair of mandibles.

Pigments ofChaetopterus variopedatus(polychaeta)
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B - Biological Sciences, 1959A chemical and histological study has been made of the pigments of the polychaete wormChaetopterus variopedatus. The conspicuous green colour of the gut in the middle and posterior regions is due to a green pigment hitherto known as ‘chaetopterin’, which is localized in small green spherules in the gut epithelial cells.

Evolution of interstitial Polychaeta (Annelida)
Hydrobiologia, 2005An update of the systematics is given for the eight most important interstitial polychaete families: Diurodrilidae, Nerillidae, Protodrilidae, Protodriloididae, Saccocirridae, Parergodrilidae, Polygordidae and Psammodrilidae. Additional information and new observations are presented for the Diurodrilidae, Nerillidae and Psammodrilidae.

Acrocirridae n.fam. (Polychaeta Sedentaria)
Journal of the Fisheries Research Board of Canada, 1969Acrocirrus Grube and Macrochaeta Grube (Polychaeta Sedentaria), comprising at present 14 species, are removed from the Cirratulidae and placed in a new family. The descriptions of the type species of the genera and of five other species are materially improved.
