TiNx and TiOx/TiNx Barrier Layers for Al‐Based Metallization of Passivating Contacts in Si Solar Cells

open access: yesphysica status solidi (RRL) – Rapid Research Letters, Volume 19, Issue 12, December 2025.
A Ti‐based diffusion barrier layer is presented for Ag‐free contacting of passivating contacts for crystalline Si‐based solar cells, enabling the use of standard screen‐printed Al‐paste. This approach provides an alternative to Ag‐based contact electrodes, while still maintaining high surface passivation quality and enabling low contact resistivity ...

Direct Integration of Polycrystalline Diamond With 3C‐SiC for Enhanced Thermal Management in GaN HEMTs: Impact of Grain Structure and Interface Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 21, November 6, 2025.
Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) is directly bonded to 3C‐SiC for GaN HEMTs on a 2‐inch wafer using an advanced room‐temperature process. Despite high thermal conductivity at the growth surface, phonon scattering at the fine‐grained nucleation side raises thermal resistance.

Laser‐Patterned Diamond Electrodes for Adhesion and Proliferation of Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 5, Issue 9, September 2025.
Laser patterning is used to create diamond electrodes on insulating diamond substrates. The process yields conductive surfaces with high capacitance, wide water windows, and low impedance. The electrode‐enhancing human mesenchymal stem cell adhesion and growth are nontoxic and promote cell alignment.

Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Free‐standing Polycrystal Diamond Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 32, August 28, 2025.
We demonstrate a novel approach for synthesizing free‐standing and transferable polycrystalline diamond membranes (PCDm). Two types of PCDm cantilevers—Top‐Surface‐Up (TSU) and Bottom‐Surface‐Up (BSU)—are fabricated and systematically analyzed for mechanical and electrical properties, including elastic modulus, Bandgap, sheet resistance under the ...

Data‐Driven Fault Diagnosis of Drilling Tools: Methods and Applications

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2025.
Drilling tools are of paramount importance for mechanical metal cutting. Breakage or wear in the drilling tool can result in catastrophic failure, reduced dimensional accuracy, and poor surface finish. Therefore, it is imperative to continuously monitor drilling tools. In addition, it has been demonstrated that the mechanical metal‐cutting industry can
