Excellent Thermoelectric Performance Realized in SnSe Materials via Chemical Bond Tailoring Using GeTe as Molecule Scissors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The GeTe acting as “molecule scissors” can tailor chemical bond, the breaking of Ag‐Se bonds and the formation of Ge‐Se bonds occur in the A‐SnSe matrix, along with the formation of Ag2Se precipitates. This process helps to optimize the thermoelectric properties, and also improves its mechanical properties to a certain extent.

A hardening model considering grain size effect for ion-irradiated polycrystals under nanoindentation

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2021
In this work, a new hardening model is proposed for the depth-dependent hardness of ion-irradiated polycrystals with obvious grain size effect. Dominant hardening mechanisms are addressed in the model, including the contribution of dislocations ...

A full-field crystal-plasticity analysis of bimodal polycrystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
International audienceA full field crystal plasticity modelling of bimodal polycrystals is presented. Bimodal polycrystals are generated using a controlled Laguerre–Voronoi algorithm, and a modified phenomenological law is used to take into account the ...

Auxetic properties of polycrystals [PDF]

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), 2010
AbstractYoung's and shear moduli and Poisson's ratio of polycrystalline solids consisting of two‐dimensional quadratic and three‐dimensional cubic randomly oriented grains of the same size and shape is studied. Considered polycrystals are initially unstrained.

Modeling polycrystals with regular polyhedra

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2006
Polycrystalline structure is of paramount importance to materials science and engineering. It provides an important example of a space-filling irregular network structure that also occurs in foams as well as in certain biological tissues.

Attenuation and Phase Velocity of Elastic Wave in Textured Polycrystals with Ellipsoidal Grains of Arbitrary Crystal Symmetry

open access: yesAcoustics, 2020
This study extends the second-order attenuation (SOA) model for elastic waves in texture-free inhomogeneous cubic polycrystalline materials with equiaxed grains to textured polycrystals with ellipsoidal grains of arbitrary crystal symmetry.

Multiscale Perspectives on Perovskite Instability: From Atomistic Deformation to Device Degradation in Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale perspectives on how excess charges in soft lead halide perovskites induce operational instability in photovoltaic devices are presented. Localized carriers formed under thermodynamic non‐equilibrium states modify atomistic interactions and drive lattice distortions, accelerating device degradation.

Investigation of the Anisotropic Thermoelectric Properties of Oriented Polycrystalline SnSe

open access: yesEnergies, 2015
Polycrystalline SnSe was synthesized by a melting-annealing-sintering process. X-ray diffraction reveals the sample possesses pure phase and strong orientation along [h00] direction.
