Ring‐Opening Arylation of Cyclic Diaryliodoniums via Cyclic Triaryliodanes as Aryne Precursors and Dynamic Aryl Reservoirs

Cyclic diaryliodonium salts engage aryl Grignard reagents to trigger a self‐propagating aryne–arylation cycle. Transient cyclic triaryliodanes serve as aryne precursors and dynamic aryl reservoirs, delivering iodine‐capped teraryls with predominant meta‐selectivity. The preserved C─I bond enables outward π‐extension or inward recyclization.

Visible‐light irradiation of nitro‐perylenediimide in the presence of triphenylphosphine reveals an unexpected pathway competing with the classical Cadogan cyclization. Pt/C‐Catalyzed Deuteration of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons with Suppressed Arene Hydrogenation

An additive‐enabled Pt/C protocol promotes hydrogen–deuterium exchange in fused polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in D2O/2‐PrOH at 80 °C. Decalin suppresses undesired ring hydrogenation while accelerating on‐ring H–D exchange, furnishing highly deuterated PAHs (PAHs‐dn).
