Low outgassing polydimethylsiloxane material and preparation thereof

open access: yes, 1973
A fluid polydimethylsiloxane resin having improved outgassing properties in the cured state is described. The fluid resin is obtained by pouring, to a height of up to about 2 inches a starting polydimethylsiloxane resin such as RTV-602 silicone resin and

Long‐Term Hydrophilic, Anti‐Clotting, and Anti‐Fibrotic Dynamic Covalent Silicone‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic covalent crosslinking of a Schiff‐base silicone elastomer with hydrazide‐functionalized polymers is demonstrated to improve the long‐term hydrophilicity as well as the anti‐fouling and anti‐clotting properties of PDMS implants. The hydrazone‐functionalized material prevents hydrophobic recovery, resists clotting, and significantly reduces ...

Preparation and properties of room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber based on rosin-grafted polydimethylsiloxane

open access: yes, 2018
Rosin-grafted polydimethylsiloxane (RGSO) was prepared via ring-opening reaction of glycidyl ester of rosin acid (ER) with hydroxy-terminated amino polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS).

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Strain Engineering of Magnetoresistance and Magnetic Anisotropy in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Biaxial compressive strain significantly enhances magnetoresistance and critical saturation fields in thin flakes of the 2D magnet CrSBr, along all three crystallographic axes. First‐principles calculations link these effects to strain‐induced increases in exchange interactions and magnetic anisotropy.

Valve Concepts for Microfluidic Cell Handling

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2010
In this paper we present various pneumatically actuated microfluidic valves to enable user-defined fluid management within a microfluidic chip. To identify a feasible valve design, certain valve concepts are simulated in ANSYS to investigate the pressure
