Emulsion Polymerized Polydimethylsiloxane

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1983
Abstract The observations are consistent with the formation of grafts of hydrophilic silicates to the silanol chain ends at the surface of the PDMS emulsion particles prior to removal of the water. The silicates may be introduced into the system directly or through the alkaline colloidal silica, which contains appreciable amounts of dissolved ...

Supercooling of polydimethylsiloxane

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1969
AbstractThis study was undertaken to determine the quenching rates necessary to supercool polydimethylsiloxane. A technique was developed that allowed controlled quenching rates up to 52°C/see and a modified DTA apparatus was used to obtain thermograms during the warm‐up cycle.

Polydimethylsiloxane quenchable vitrimers

Polymer Chemistry, 2017
Reprocessable and recyclable PDMS vitrimers can be transformed into “quenched” vitrimers that exhibit conventional elastomer properties.

Graphene/polydimethylsiloxane nanocomposite strain sensor

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2013
The objective of this research is to fabricate graphene nanopowder composites based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and to characterize the gauge factor of the graphene/PDMS composites for the use of strain sensors. The fabrication of graphene/PDMS composites can be accomplished by simple sonication and micro molding processes.

Composites of Kaolin and Polydimethylsiloxane

Langmuir, 2008
Kaolin particles were surface-treated with isobutyltrimethoxysilane (IBTMS), hydrogenated tallow (HT), and a polyisobutyl chain-based stabilizer (SAP) to make composites with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). IBTMS did not cover the strong acid sites on the kaolin surface and as a result a cross-linking reaction occurred for silanol-terminated PDMS.

Electro-switchable polydimethylsiloxane-based optofluidics

Lab on a Chip, 2012
We report on the fabrication and characterization of a new generation of electro-switchable optofluidic devices based on flexible substrates, combined with the extraordinary properties of reconfigurable soft-materials. A conductive polydimethylsiloxane microstructure has been first sputtered with an Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) layer and then functionalized ...

Nanometer-Scale Embossing of Polydimethylsiloxane

Langmuir, 2010
Microstructured polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is an important and widely used material in biology and chemistry. Here we report that micrometer- and nanometer-scale features can be introduced into the surface of PDMS in a process that is functionally equivalent to embossing. We show that surface features

Magnetorheological polydimethylsiloxane micro-optical resonator

Optics Letters, 2010
We investigate the possibility of using magnetorheological polydimethylsiloxane (MR-PDMS) spheres as micro-optical resonators. In particular, the effect of a magnetic field on the whispering gallery modes (WGM) of these resonators is studied. The applied field induces mechanical deformation, causing shifts in the WGM.

Persistence of Polydimethylsiloxane Condom Lubricants

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2018
AbstractPolydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is commonly used to lubricate condoms. The detection of PDMS on swabs from complainants can be used to support an allegation of sexual assault. Previous research has focused on establishing analytical techniques for detecting PDMS.

Cationic Photocrosslinkable Polydimethylsiloxane. III. Synthesis and Photocrosslinking of Polydimethylsiloxane Bearing Oxetane Groups

Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part A, 1997
Abstract From 3-hydroxymethyl-3-methyl oxetane, we synthesized three oxetane monomers with allylic, diethoxysilane or triethoxysilane functions. These monomers allowed us to prepare different polydimethylsiloxanes bearing oxetane groups by two routes.
