Nanofibrous Polydioxanone Depots for Prolonged Intraperitoneal Paclitaxel Delivery
Current Drug Delivery, 2019Background: Prolonged chemodrug delivery to the tumor site is a prerequisite to maintaining its localised therapeutic concentrations for effective treatment of malignant solid tumors. Objective: The current study aims to develop implantable polymeric depots through conventional electrospinning for sustained drug delivery, specifically to the ...

[Ligament replacement with polydioxanone (PDS)].
Unfallchirurgie, 1986Experimentations on animals have been performed in order to verify the applicability of the slowly resorbable suturing material Polydioxanon (PDS) in the transposition of ligaments in general and the transposition of cruciate ligaments in particular. After six weeks, the absorption of a twisted cord of 2 mm diameter still has a traction tolerance of 58%

Polydioxanone Sternal Sutures for Prevention of Sternal Dehiscence
Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 2006Sternal dehiscence and wound instability are troublesome complications following median sternotomy. Classic sternal approximation with stainless steel wires may not be the ideal approach in patients predisposed to these complications. We tested the efficacy of polydioxanone (PDS) suture in sternal closure and in prevention of complications in ...

Polyglactin 910/polydioxanone bicomponent totally resorbable vascular prostheses
Journal of Vascular Surgery, 1988Previous studies from our laboratory have shown that bioresorbable vascular prostheses woven from lactide-glycolide copolymers and implanted into arteries of several animal models become replaced by cellular tissues; the rate of replacement parallels the kinetics of prosthetic resorption.

[Continuous intestinal suture with polydioxanone].
Zentralblatt fur Chirurgie, 1991Within five years a total of 264 anastomoses were performed on 241 patients in a continuous extramucosal single-layer end-on suture technique with polydioxanone. In 133 small bowel, and 131 colonic anastomoses there were no leakages as the only complications attributable to the procedure. Both anastomotic failures occurred after colonic resections, for

Polydioxanone in coronary vascular surgery.
The Journal of cardiovascular surgery, 1989We have used polydioxanone (PDS) in 50 patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting. The anastomoses consisted of suturing an autologous vein graft to the coronary artery (122 operations), a vein graft to the aorta (63 operations) and the internal mammary artery to the coronary artery (33 operations).

Polydioxanone suture in the gastrointestinal tract.
Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, 1987A randomized prospective trial was undertaken of polydioxanone suture (PDS) versus conventional suture material in 98 patients undergoing anastomoses in the gastrointestinal tract. Nine patients died within 6 months of surgery, one of these being related to an anastomotic leak.

Evaluation of Physical Properties of Coated Polydioxanone Threads
Dermatologic SurgeryBACKGROUND Using a thread for wound closure promotes healing and minimizes contamination by foreign substances. Threads have also been employed in esthetic surgery; however, functional threads that can improve wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin are required.
