Approximations of polydispersed extinction
Applied Optics, 1996A method to evaluate the polydispersed extinction efficiency rapidly is presented. The method can be used for any shape for which a monodisperse code or expression is known and any polydispersion for which a second moment inverse can be computed. Integration can be performed over any interval of the distribution function. Additionally, and if required,

Polydisperse Anisotropic Brushes
Macromolecules, 2001The influence of polydispersity on liquid-crystalline ordering in anisotropic polymer brushes is considered. It is shown that mixing of long and short chains in a brush inhibits LC ordering of long chains; LC ordering is influenced by details of the inner structure of a brush rather than by its global average characteristics.

Fractal Aggregates of Polydisperse Particles
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1998In this work we examine structural effects of particle polydispersity on fractal aggregates by performing DLCA simulations with multiple primary particle sizes. We show that the fractal structure and the form of the cutoff function that describes the gross shape of the aggregates is unaffected by the details of the primary particle size distribution ...

Infinitely polydisperse fluids
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1989A generalized semigrand formalism for polydisperse fluids is presented and is used to derive a thermodynamic consistency equation. In the infinitely polydisperse limit—corresponding to a flat distribution of chemical potential differences—a characteristic parameter is eliminated, and the description of the mixture is greatly simplified.

Mapping of charge polydispersity onto size polydispersity in colloidal suspensions
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 1991The variational principle based on the Gibbs-Bogoliubov inequality is used to map the thermodynamic and structural properties of a charge-polydisperse colloidal suspension onto those of a polydisperse reference hard-sphere fluid. The predictions of this mapping are tested by molecular dynamics simulation.

Polydisperse particle-driven gravity currents
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2002The intrusion of a polydisperse suspension of particles over a horizontal, rigid boundary is investigated theoretically using both an integral (‘box’) model and the shallow-water equations. The flow is driven by the horizontal pressure gradient associated with the density difference between the intrusion and the surrounding fluid, which is ...

Monodisperse behavior of polydisperse flows
Physical Review EGranular flows can occur under low inertia conditions, called the quasi-static regime, and extend to highly inertial systems, called the inertial regime. In the latter, granular flows, particularly those having a variety of grain sizes-property known as polydispersity-have not been extensively studied.
