Shear strength of angular granular materials with size and shape polydispersity
Shear strength characterization of coarse granular materials often requires modifying the original material in order to fit samples in standard testing devices.

Phase separation and crystallisation of polydisperse hard spheres
Hard spheres with a polydispersity above approximately 8% are shown to crystallise into two phase-separated solid phases. A polydispersity above 8% is too large to be tolerated by a single solid phase but phase separation produces two fractions with ...

Shearing behavior of polydisperse media [PDF]
We study the shearing of polydisperse and bidisperse media with a size ratio of 10. Simulations are performed with a the two dimensional shear cell using contact dynamics. With a truncated power law for the polydisperse media we find that they show a stronger dilatancy and greater resistance to shearing than bidisperse mixtures.

We have developed DEX/GM, an all‐natural, personalizable hybrid vaccine designed by coating dendritic cell‐derived exosomes (DEX) onto tumor cell membranes (GM) for sustained prophylaxis against glioblastoma (GBM). ABSTRACT Glioblastoma (GBM), one of the most aggressive and lethal brain tumors, remains incurable with a poor clinical prognosis.

Most undergraduate students who have followed a thermodynamics course would have been asked to evaluate the volume occupied by one mole of air under standard conditions of pressure and temperature. However, what is this task exactly referring to?

Influence of polydispersity on the relaxation mechanisms of glassy liquids
State-of-the-art techniques for simulating deeply supercooled liquids require a high degree of size polydispersity to be effective. While these techniques have enabled great insight into the microscopic dynamics near the glass transition, the effect of ...

Tunable Reflection through Size Polydispersity of Chiral-Nematic Liquid Crystal Polymer Particles
Micro-sized chiral-nematic liquid crystal (N* LC) polymer particles have attracted considerable interest as versatile reflective colorants with selective circularly polarized light (CPL) properties.

Particle Survival and Polydispersity in Aggregation
We study the probability, $P_S(t)$, of a cluster to remain intact in one-dimensional cluster-cluster aggregation when the cluster diffusion coefficient scales with size as $D(s) \sim s^\gamma$. $P_S(t)$ exhibits a stretched exponential decay for $\gamma <

Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

Splay-bend nematic phases of bent colloidal silica rods induced by polydispersity
Different shapes of molecules or particles can exhibit various liquid crystal phases. The authors report on an experimental discovery of a so called splay-bend nematic liquid crystal phase in a colloidal system of bent silica rods.
