Effect of cotton‐polyester composite yarn on the physico‐mechanical and comfort properties of woven fabric

open access: yesSPE Polymers
Cotton is the most widely used natural cellulosic polymer and polyester is a synthetic polymer. The use of polyester fiber is increasing gradually day by day due to its strength and longevity, while the use of cotton fiber is decreasing due to its ...

Textile Actuation Based on In‐Air Actuating Polypyrrole‐Based Tape Yarns for Wearable Soft Robotics: Toward On‐Body Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work reports on the actuation behavior of CP‐based polypyrrole/PVdF TYs soaked in electrolyte/ionic liquids and woven actuators where such TYs are integrated. These studies are important toward the creation of on‐body applications such as wearable soft robotics, where textiles offer many advantages such as increased force, integrated electrical ...

Bioinspired Soft‐Skeleton Robotics With Cooperative Shape Transformation and Stiffness Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A bioinspired soft‐skeleton robot that integrates variable‐stiffness chain skeletons into a soft textile skin is developed. The chain skeletons are highly flexible initially but can stiffen upon pneumatic actuation, enabling large deformation and enhanced load‐bearing capacity.

Composite rods as a steel substitute in concrete reinforcement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The current work is concerning with the development of braided reinforced composites rods for concrete reinforcement, as a steel substitute. The research study aims to understand the mechanical behaviour of composite rods reinforced by a fibrous ...

Thermal Absorptivity Model of Knitted Rib Fabric and its Experimental Verification

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2018
Thermal absorptivity is an indicator of warm and cool feeling of textile materials. An equation based on thermal absorptivity of polyester in solid form, porosity of a fabric, and relative contact area of human skin and fabric surface has been developed ...

Mechanostimulatory Cues Determine Intestinal Fibroblast Fate and Profibrotic Remodeling in a Physiodynamic Human Gut‐on‐a‐Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A healthy gut barrier shields underlying fibroblasts from luminal shear forces, illustrating that “good fences make good neighbors.” Barrier damage exposes fibroblasts to shear stress, inducing cell death and the emergence of stress‐adapted, profibrotic fibroblasts. Sustained shear exposure promotes the formation of stiff aggregates of mechanoadapative
