Modification of Polyester Fabrics Using Chitosan

open access: yesSen'i Gakkaishi, 1995
Polyester fabrics, the surfaces of which were hydrolyzed with caustic soda solution to incorporate the functional groups (-COOH) were treated with chitosan to obtain the new available functions expected. The chitosan was fixed to the surface by the reaction of these carboxyl-groups and the amino-groups of the chitosan molecules.

Digital Laser-dyeing for Polyester Fabrics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Textile Design Research and Practice, 2014
ABSTRACTSurface polyester fibers modified by laser beam energy have been found to display improved dye uptake (Lau et al. 1997; Kamel et al. 2012; Shahidi et al. 2013). This research considers “laser-dye” patterning as an alternative coloration method within a textile design context. In this study, standardized polyester (PET) knitted jersey and plain,

Two‐Way Shape Memory Polymer Composite Gripper for Adaptive Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A two‐way shape memory polymer (SMP) composite is developed with intrinsic shape‐changing capability driven solely by temperature, eliminating external actuation loads. Embedding the SMP in a low‐stiffness elastomeric matrix enabled reversible transformations during heating and cooling cycles.
