Sheath-core bicomponent fiber characterization by FT-IR and other analytical methodologies

open access: yesPolímeros
The bicomponent fibers are a special class of fibers that consolidate two polymers in only one fiber in order to explore individual properties of each polymer and can be designed in a spatial configuration that allows the enhancement in application of ...

Electrical conductivity of the «polyethylene — vanadium dioxide» composite [PDF]

open access: yesTekhnologiya i Konstruirovanie v Elektronnoi Apparature, 2013
Samples of the «polyethylene — VO2» composite have been obtained using technologies for manufacturing self-healing polyswitch fuses. The volume fraction of vanadium dioxide in the samples ranged from 0,25 to 0,6.

Ab initio Calculations of the Interface States of Polyacetylene-Polyvinylfluoride and Polyethylene - Polyvinylfluoride Quasi-one-dimensional Chains [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
The interface states appearing in polyacetylene-polyvinylfluoride and polyethylene-polyvinylfluoride are determined via an ab initio self consistent field technique based on Green matrix formalism. Different properties of these states are explored.

Molecular dynamics simulation of chains mobility in polyethylene crystal [PDF]

open access: yesJETP Letters 98, 294 (2013), 2014
The mobility of polymer chains in perfect polyethylene (PE) crystal was calculated as a function of temperature and chain length through Molecular dynamics (MD) in united atom approximation. The results demonstrate that the chain mobility drastically increases in the vicinity of the phase transition from the orthorhombic to quasi-hexagonal phase.

Infrared analysis of polyethylene wear specimens using attenuated total reflection spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes
Attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy was used to analyze ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene wear test specimens. Three different specimens were analyzed.

Study of the terahertz spectra of crystalline materials using NDDO semi-empirical methods: polyethylene, poly(vinylidene fluoride) form II and $α$-D-glucose [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Semi-empirical quantum chemistry methods offer a very interesting compromise between accuracy and computational load. In order to assess the performance of NDDO methods in the interpretation of terahertz spectra, the low frequency vibration modes of three crystalline materials, namely, polyethylene, poly(vinylidene fluoride) form II and $\alpha$-D ...

Scintillation Timing Characteristics of Common Plastics for Radiation Detection Excited With 120 GeV Protons [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The timing characteristics of scintillators must be understood in order to determine which applications they are appropriate for. Polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) and polyethylene teraphthalate (PET) are common plastics with uncommon scintillation properties.

Tribological characteristics of a composite total-surface hip replacement [PDF]

open access: yes
Continuous fiber, woven E glass composite femoral shells having the same elastic properties as bone were fabricated. The shells were then encrusted with filled epoxy wear resistant coatings and run dry against ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene ...

Evaluation of two designs for cryogenic insulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Shingle-type, crinkled, aluminized polyethylene ester is thermally and structurally tested for cryogenic insulation. Insulation systems require thermal efficiency with minimum weight, and the ability to withstand vibration, acceleration, and rapid ...
