Polyethylene-polyethylene microfibrillar composites
Journal of Materials Science, 1993Solid-state drawing of melt-crystallized, or gel(solution)-crystallized, polyethylene (PE) is well established as a means of producing high modulus high-strength fibres. Here, an alternative route, based on melt-processing, is reviewed and its merits are assessed.

Photoconduction of polyethylene
1967 Seventh Electrical Insulation Conference, 1966Electronic conduction in various polymeric insulating materials has been discussed by many investigators.1–10 Since Fowler gave successful explanation to X-ray induced conductivity in plastics on the basis of energy-band theory including electron traps,1 electron traps have been considered to play an important role in electrical conduction, of polymer ...

Polyethylene/deutero-polyethylene phase behaviour
Polymer, 1985Abstract A study of the phase behaviour of polyethylene/deuterated polyethylene (PEH/PED) has been carried out to address the question of phase segregation. The phase diagram has been determined by differential scanning calorimetry on carefully co-crystallized mixtures of PEH and PED that are of essentially the same molecular weight.

Electrical conduction in polyethylene terephthalate and polyethylene films [PDF]
Electrical conduction is studied in polyethylene terephthalate and to a limited extent in polyethylene over a range of fields up to 12×106 V cm−1. In common with previous investigations, it is found that the current decays with time according to an inverse power law, but this can be obviated by a conditioning procedure which then allows steady values ...

Morphological investigations of polyethylene fibre reinforced polyethylene
Polymer, 1999The crystallisation behaviour and morphology of polyethylene-based single polymer composites has been investigated by light microscopy and low voltage scanning electron microscopy techniques. The surface crystals on ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fibres act as nucleation centres for the high density polyethylene matrix, which may result from ...

Improvement of the Properties of Polyethylene with Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) [PDF]
Blends of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) have been tested across the whole concentration range. Polyethylene is used to modify the properties of CPE in the elastomer industry, but modification of the properties of polyethylene with CPE is still not usual.

Adhesion of a pair of polyethylene moldings by polyethylene gels
Colloid & Polymer Science, 1987It was found that polyethylene gels in solvents such as benzene, toluene, xylene, decalin, tetralin, tetrachloroethylene, 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, and chlorobenzene are effective for adhesion of a pair of polyethylene plates. In particular, the adhesion strength of polyethylene gels in decalin, tetralin and tetrachloroethylene was strong enough for ...
