Linear low density polyethylene/cycloolefin copolymer blends

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2011
Linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) was melt compounded with various amounts of a cycloolefin copolymer (COC). Scanning and transmission electron microscopy evidenced, at qualitative level, some interfacial adhesion between LLDPE and COC.

Comparative Wear and Friction Analysis of Sliding Surface Materials for Hydrostatic Bearing under Oil Supply Failure Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrostatic bearings excel in high‐precision applications, but their performance hinges on a continuous external supply. This study evaluates various material combinations for sliding surfaces to mitigate damage during supply failures or misalignment and to discover the most effective materials identified for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of

Desenvolvimento de nanocompósitos de poliamida6/polietileno/argila organofílica: o efeito do compatibilizante PE-g-MA no comportamento reológico da mistura Development of polyamide6/polyethylene/organoclay nanocomposites: the effect of the PE-g-MA compatibilizer on the rheological behavior of mixture

Influence of Temperature on Scratch and Wear Properties of Technical Thermoplastics: Implications for Material Selection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The share of technical thermoplastics is expected to grow further in the e‐mobility segment. In this study, a detailed temperature‐based tribological characterization of technical thermoplastics is performed. The tribological properties are discussed in terms of the dynamic mechanical properties of polymers at different ambient temperatures. A proof of

Surface Modification of Fluorine‐Free Superhydrophobic Materials with (Ultra‐)Thin TiO2 Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Significant changes in wettability, with a reduction of 60o in the water conduct angle, are reported via the surface modification of fluorine‐free superhydrophobic thin films, prepared by aerosol‐assisted chemical vapor deposition, after coating a 4 nm layer of titanium dioxide on the surface using atomic layer deposition.
