Synthesis of Prussian Blue-Containing Polymeric Nanocapsules via Interfacial Confined Coordination in Crosslinked Miniemulsion

open access: yesNanomaterials
Herein, we describe a versatile synthetic strategy for constructing Prussian Blue (PB)-coated polymeric nanocapsules (PB@nanocapsules) with tunable sizes and controlled PB loading.

Effect of Desert Sand on the Section Bonding Properties of Polyethylene Fiber−Engineered Cementitious Composites

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Xinjiang is in northwest China and has abundant desert sand. Replacing natural sand with sand from deserts is an urgent need and could be used in making polyethylene fiber−engineered cementitious composite (PE−ECC).

SAXS experiments on gel-spun polyethylene fibers [PDF]

open access: yesColloid and Polymer Science, 1990
The properties of gel-spun polyethylene fibers hot-drawn to the maximum draw ratio depend on the spinning conditions. Different spinning conditions result in two types of structure in the paraffin oil containing fibers: an isotropic lamellar structure or a shish-kebab structure. Meridional SAXS experiments can identify the structure present.

Functionalization of waterborne polyurethane with rosin and epoxidized soybean oil for high-performance, UV-shielding, and hydrophobic biobased films and cotton coatings

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
The development of high-performance waterborne polyurethane (WPU) from biomass materials represents a significant issue in green industry. In this work, a rosin-based epoxidized soybean oil polyol (RE) was synthesized via a ring-opening reaction between ...

The effect of fiber type and position on the transverse strength of an fiber reinforced composite (FRC) bridge

open access: yesMajalah Kedokteran Gigi Indonesia, 2021
Fixed bridge made of porcelain fused to metal (PFM) is one of the widely used dentures. However, this type of denture is easily broken and cracked. As an alternative, a fixed bridge made of fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) is produced with more benefits ...

Evaluation of wetting, structural and thermal properties of electrospun nanofibers at different pineapple leaf fiber / polyethylene terephthalate ratios

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2021
In this study, pineapple leaf fiber and polyethylene terephthalate electrospun nanofibers were produced via electrospinning process. Six ratios of pineapple leaf fiber/polyethylene terephthalate, namely 1/10; 1/7,5; 1/5; 1/1 and 1,3/1 were prepared and ...

The effect of high-energy electron beam on drawn and undrawn high density polyethylene fibers [PDF]

open access: yesPolyolefins Journal, 2015
HDPE monofilaments were obtained using different extruders and drawn by post-extruder equipments. After solidification, drawn and undrawn monofilaments (draw ratio 7:1) were irradiated with 10 MeV electron beams in air at room temperature at 25, 50, 75 ...

Chain Ends and the Ultimate Strength of Polyethylene Fibers [PDF]

open access: yesACS Macro Letters, 2016
We use large scale molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to determine the tensile yield mechanism of orthorhombic polyethylene (PE) crystals with finite chains spanning $10^2-10^4$ carbons in length. We find the yield stress $σ_y$ saturates for long chains at 6.3 GPa, agreeing well with experiments.

DRAWING OF POLYETHYLENE OXIDE FIBER

open access: yesSen'i Gakkaishi, 1972
In order to improve the tensile properties of polyethylene oxide (PEO) fiber, two different drawing methods were employed; one was a dry process which was carried out in an air oven, and another a wet process using liquid paraffin as a medium which was a non-solvent of PEO.In the hot air, PEO could be drawn more than in the liquid paraffine as shown in
