Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

Mechanically Triggered Chemical Recyclable Polyethylene‐Like Materials

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie
ABSTRACT Polyethylene (PE) materials are indispensable to modern infrastructure due to their exceptional thermal, mechanical, and chemical resilience. However, the same properties that make these materials durable also render them environmentally persistent and unrecyclable by conventional means, posing a critical sustainability ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Blends of linear-low-density polyethylene and thermoplastic bloodmeal using maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene as compatibilizer

open access: yes, 2012
Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) was blended with Novatein Thermoplastic from bloodmeal (NTP.) The compatibilizing effect of maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (PE-g-MAH) on mechanical, morphology thermal properties and water absorption were ...

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Dynamics of space charge and electroluminescence modelling in polyethylene

open access: yes, 2012
Space charge has been recognized as an important factor contributing to the electrical failure of the cable insulation. Extensive efforts have been made to investigate space charge dynamics within polymeric insulations under electric stresses.

Analysis of Space Charge Formation in LDPE in the Presence of Crosslinking Byproducts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Cross-linking byproducts are suspected to be the main contributing factor in space charge formation observed in XLPE. To investigate the mechanism behind this phenomenon, low density polyethylene was soaked into three main crosslinking byproducts ...
