Flocculation of oxides using polyethylene oxide
Abstract Flocculation of oxides using polyethylene oxide was investigated. Polyethylene oxide adsorbed strongly on and flocculated sodium kaolinite. H-bonding is considered to be the driving force for polyethylene oxide adsorption on kaolinite. The mechanism of adsorption of polyethylene oxide on kaolinite was examined by studying the adsorption ...

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Ultraviolet Oxidation of Polyethylene

Conventional versus highly cross-linked polyethylene in primary total knee replacement : a comparison of revision rates using data from the National Joint Registry for England, Wales, and Northern Ireland [PDF]
There is evidence to support the use of highly cross-linked polyethylene (HXLPE) in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. However, the benefits for those undergoing total knee arthroplasty are uncertain, with conflicting reports based on previous ...
