Etching of polyethylene terephthalate

Journal of Polymer Science, 1962
AbstractA degradative etching technique has been employed with polyethylene terephthalate films to demonstrate the existence of several different structures, the size of which vary from hundreds of microns to hundreds of Angstroms. The micron‐sized structures are a function of the processing and orientation of the film and occur in regular geometric ...

Fine structure in polyethylene terephthalate fibres

Vacuum, 1953
IT has recently been shown by Kassenbeck1 that drawn fibres of polyethylene terephthalate possess a surface skin, some 2500 A. in thickness. This was demonstrated by making two-stage polystyrene–silica replicas of carefully prepared sections, and photographing the replicas in the electron microscope.

The photolysis of polyethylene terephthalate

Journal of Polymer Science, 1959
AbstractThe photolysis of films of polyethylene terephthalate has been studied over a wide variation of exposure conditions. The rate of polymer bond rupture was measured by the change in molecular weight. The rate of energy absorption upon exposure to near ultraviolet light was determined from an analysis of the emission characteristics of the light ...

Raman Evaluation of the Crystallinity Degree of Polyethylene Terephthalate and Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol

Journal of Raman Spectroscopy
ABSTRACT Materials based on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) are in high demand for numerous practical applications. Their physico‐chemical properties depend heavily on the crystallinity degree (CD).
