Vicryl (polyglactin 910) mesh as a dural substitute

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1985
✓ Many substances have been used as dural substitutes. Although the various materials are effective in a variety of settings, a material that is absorbed over time, elicits minimal inflammatory reaction, is relatively inexpensive, and is easily manipulated would be beneficial.

Polyglactin 910/polydioxanone bicomponent totally resorbable vascular prostheses

Journal of Vascular Surgery, 1988
Previous studies from our laboratory have shown that bioresorbable vascular prostheses woven from lactide-glycolide copolymers and implanted into arteries of several animal models become replaced by cellular tissues; the rate of replacement parallels the kinetics of prosthetic resorption.

Biology of polypropylene/polyglactin 910 grafts

International Urogynecology Journal, 2006
The biological evaluation of polypropylene (PP)/polyglactin 910 grafts was reviewed including regulatory considerations, biocompatibility assessment, tissue reaction and integration, and infection potentiation of these synthetic materials used in urogynecological surgical procedures. The physical characteristics of the grafts including base composition,

A new aneurysm wrapping material: polyglactin 910+fibrin sealant

Neurosurgical Review, 1996
Aneurysms experimentally induced by using the silver nitrate coagulation method in 10 Wistar Albino rats are wrapped with Polyglactin 910 and Fibrin Sealant. 6 weeks later the rats are sacrificed and compared with the control group. In the group in which Polyglactin 910 and Fibrin Sealant were used as the wrapping material, non-specific inflammatory ...

Comparison of Polydioxanone and Polyglactin 910 in Intradermal Repair

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1996
A prospective clinical study was undertaken to compare the results of intradermal layer closure using two popular absorbable suture materials, polydioxanone and polyglactin 910. On an alternating basis, 6-0 polydioxanone and 6-0 polyglactin 910 were used to repair 80 surgical sites of the temple and occipital regions in 20 patients undergoing facial ...

Impact of chromic catgut versus polyglactin 910 versus fast-absorbing polyglactin 910 sutures for perineal repair: A randomized, controlled trial

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2006
The goal of our study was to compare the impact of 3 suture materials on perineal pain and on resumption of sexual intercourse. This randomized, controlled trial compared 3 types of suture materials (chromic catgut, polyglactin 910, fast-absorbing polyglactin 910) for second-degree perineal laceration or uncomplicated episiotomy.

Reconstruction of Orbital Wall Fenestrations with Polyglactin 910 Film

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1987
Medial orbital wall fenestrations were created bilaterally in 16 adult cats. The fenestrations were reconstructed with polyglactin 910 film, Dacron-reinforced silicone sheeting, or no implant. Polyglactin 910 was found to be well tolerated in this traumatized area of paranasal sinus bone and soft tissue and was totally absorbed in 4 months.

Comparison of Poliglecaprone-25 and Polyglactin-910 in Cutaneous Surgery

Dermatologic Surgery, 2013
Few clinical studies have compared deep absorbable sutures. Poliglecaprone-25 and polyglactin-910 are two of the most commonly used absorbable sutures in cutaneous surgery. To compare the rate of suture extrusion, degree of lumpiness, and appearance of scars from wounds closed with poliglecaprone-25 and polyglactin-910.Poliglecaprone-25 or polyglactin ...

Repair of Spinal Dural Defects with Vicryl (Polyglactin 910) Mesh

Journal of Spinal Disorders, 1989
This study examined and compared the effectiveness of woven vicryl (polyglactin 910) mesh and lyophilized cadaver dura (Lyodura) for the repair of spinal dural defects. A woven vicryl mesh was used to repair spinal dural defects in 16 mongrel dogs. As an internal control, all animals had a separate dural incision that was closed with 9-0 vicryl suture.
