Reconstruction of Orbital Wall Fenestrations with Polyglactin 910 Film

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1987
Medial orbital wall fenestrations were created bilaterally in 16 adult cats. The fenestrations were reconstructed with polyglactin 910 film, Dacron-reinforced silicone sheeting, or no implant. Polyglactin 910 was found to be well tolerated in this traumatized area of paranasal sinus bone and soft tissue and was totally absorbed in 4 months.

Repair of Spinal Dural Defects with Vicryl (Polyglactin 910) Mesh

Journal of Spinal Disorders, 1989
This study examined and compared the effectiveness of woven vicryl (polyglactin 910) mesh and lyophilized cadaver dura (Lyodura) for the repair of spinal dural defects. A woven vicryl mesh was used to repair spinal dural defects in 16 mongrel dogs. As an internal control, all animals had a separate dural incision that was closed with 9-0 vicryl suture.

Irradiated polyglactin 910 for mucosal defects.

Cutis, 2008
The prolonged presence of superficial mucosal sutures or perineal sutures may cause irritation or discomfort and increase the risk of bacterial infections. Although absorbable sutures are commonly used in mucosal areas, many sutures have a prolonged half-life and might still require removal when used superficially.
