The use of polyglactin 910 (Vicryl) in colonic anastomoses is theoretically undesirable because its short dissolution time and multifilament structure may lead to local sepsis and anastomotic leakage. We have compared Vicryl with a newly introduced monofilament absorbable suture which has a longer dissolution time than Vicryl.

Vicryl (polyglactin 910) mesh as a dural substitute in the presence of pia arachnoid injury
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1989✓ Previously presented data showed that Vicryl mesh was a potentially effective dural grafting material. It is easily handled, relatively inexpensive, absorbed over time, and elicits a minimal inflammatory response. The present experimental project was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of a tightly woven version of the material as a watertight

Irradiated Polyglactin 910 (Vicryl Rapide) for Placement of Full-Thickness Skin Grafts
Dermatologic Surgery, 2005The "unsuture" technique originally reported with the use of fast-absorbing gut for the placement of full-thickness skin grafts has provided years of successful full-thickness graft placement without the need for suture removal. The objective was to explore another option for successful graft placement and survival using irradiated polyglactin 910 ...

The patella is made up of dense spongy bone covered by a thin lamina. It is divided into anterior and posterior surfaces. The anterior surface has upper, middle, and lower parts. The upper part serves as an attachment for the quadriceps tendon, the middle is made up of vascular canaliculi, and the lower serves as an origin for the patellar ligament ...

Use of vicryl (polyglactin 910) sutures in general surgical and cardiothoracic procedures
The American Journal of Surgery, 1977The satisfactory substitute for catgut suture, Vicryl (polyglactin 910) suture, was used in fifty-three patients who underwent general and thoracic surgical procedures. Theoretical advantages of increased strength, controlled absorption by slow depolymerization and dissolution, and superior handling characteristics were confirmed.
